Interesting profession as mine is of being a wardrobe Stylist, I come across different clients, different cultures and obviously different wardrobe needs. However this one was unique -equally challenging as well as fun. A gorgeous English bride to be who wanted to dress in an Indian attire for her wedding in 2019. Couldn’t have asked for a better melange of cultures and I feel lucky to be chosen to execute the styling.
As much as we Indians have a soft corner for the pastels and the nudes, they do suit only much on our wheatish or darker skin, this I realised during our Styling session. The lighter the skin shade a brighter attire colour did wonders. Two important factors to be considered for wedding attire are : 1) The bride needs to stand out of the crowd and not to forget win all hearts 2) The wedding attire should be as comfortable as possible for the bride to carry as that day her shoulders would carry all the responsibilities and stomach all the butterflies 😉
We had two sessions for this important decision making. As shared in the pictures you would see this gorgeous bride has a rectangle / hourglass and petite body style. To enhance the height I chose a two piece lehenga to give her waist that perfect oomph and a lovely A line skirt to enhance the hip structure. The dark maroon shade does a perfect compliment to her white skin as well as the perfect fabric (velvet ) to rule the wedding in winter season.
Blue and Copper was the colour code, as she said to me at the start of the session. And after we decided on the bridal wear it took me a just a glance to go through the racks and I picked up this gorgeous indo western outfit for the brides maid. Again this attire is perfect buy for someone who loves to mix match. This lovely raw silk skirt can be paired with a black plain top for a semi-casual evening wear or a ruffled white chiffon shirt for a day wear. One attire – multiple looks is what we got this young beauty !
